Short answer: yes. Every garment you bring to Fast N Clean for dry cleaning is hand-pressed (ironed) after cleaning, at no additional charge. It's not an upsell, not a hidden extra — it's part of the per-piece price you see on our menu.
This is one of the most common questions our Brooklyn customers ask, and for good reason: at some shops, "dry cleaning" means cleaning only, and pressing is billed separately. Here's how it works at our shop on 1909 Avenue M.
What's included when you drop off a garment for dry cleaning
Every piece you hand to us at the counter goes through this process:
Inspection
We look over the garment for stains, missing buttons, weak seams, and care label notes. If we spot something that needs your input (a tear, a stain that may not come out), we'll call you before processing.
Spot treatment
Visible stains are pre-treated with a stain-specific solvent before cleaning. This is included — no add-on charge.
Solvent cleaning
Garments are run through our commercial dry-clean process using modern, gentle solvents. Suits, dresses, silk, wool, and most delicates all go through this step.
Hand pressing (ironing)
Each piece is steam-pressed by hand by our staff. Collars get sharp folds. Pleats are restored. Trousers get a fresh crease. This is what most shops call "finishing."
Hanger + bag
Everything comes back on a wooden or sturdy plastic hanger, covered in a clear protective garment bag so you can carry it home or to the closet without wrinkling.
The per-piece price covers all of the above
When our menu lists "Two-piece suit — $15," that $15 covers cleaning + pressing + inspection + bagging for both the jacket and the pants. No separate "pressing fee." Same with:
- Pants: $6 (clean + press)
- Jacket / blazer: $9 (clean + press)
- Dress shirt: $6 (clean + press)
- Dress (short): $15 (clean + press)
- Long coat: $25 (clean + press)
Full per-piece pricing is on our dry cleaning page.
When is there an extra charge?
A few situations trigger an additional cost, and we'll always tell you upfront before we start:
Heavy or unusual repairs
Replacing a zipper, restitching a hem, or sewing on multiple missing buttons may be billed as a separate alteration. Basic single-button reattachment is usually included.
Pre-existing damage that needs special handling
If a garment has a weak spot we need to protect during cleaning (loose beadwork, fragile vintage fabric), we may add a hand-cleaning step that costs more.
Specialty preservation
Wedding dress preservation is a separate service — $250-$400 — and includes acid-free packaging. See our wedding-dress guide for details.
"Press only" service
If you just want a garment pressed without cleaning (because it's already clean but wrinkled), we charge half the regular per-piece rate. Just ask at intake.
Press-only vs full dry cleaning — when to choose what
Choose full dry cleaning when:
- The garment has visible stains, odors, or has been worn multiple times
- Label says "dry clean only"
- It's a winter coat at end of season heading to storage
- It's been compressed in a suitcase for travel
Choose press-only when:
- You just washed it at home and want a professional finish
- It came back from the cleaner months ago and got wrinkled in storage
- It's a fresh-from-the-store garment that needs a sharp crease for an event
Both options end with the same pressing quality — sharp, hand-finished, on hangers in protective bags.
Why we include pressing in the base price
Honestly, because separating them feels like a bait-and-switch. If you bring us a wrinkled suit and we hand it back clean but still wrinkled, you'd have to iron it yourself or pay extra. That's not what you came in for.
Pressing is also where most of the visual quality comes from. A perfectly cleaned suit that wasn't pressed properly looks worse than a slightly less-clean suit that was pressed well. So we don't skip it or hide it behind extras.
