The same-day dry cleaning rules
To get same-day turnaround on dry cleaning at Fast N Clean, your order needs to meet three conditions:
- Drop off before 10 AM — at our counter, 1909 Avenue M, Brooklyn.
- Standard items only — suits, jackets, pants, dresses, dress shirts, blouses. Specialty items (wedding dresses, leather, heavy coats) need extra time.
- It's not a peak weekend — Mondays through Fridays are best. Saturdays sometimes possible; call ahead.
If your drop-off meets these, your dry cleaning is ready by 6 PM the same day, no extra fee.
The 8-hour workflow (what's happening behind the scenes)
Here's the actual process when you drop off at 9:30 AM for same-day pickup:
- 9:30 AM: Intake at the counter. We log your items, identify any stains, and tag them "same-day."
- 10:00 AM: Items move to pre-treatment. Each visible stain gets the appropriate solvent.
- 10:30 AM: Items enter the dry-clean machine in a small "rush" load. The cycle takes about 45-60 minutes.
- 11:30 AM: Items come out and go straight to inspection. Any stain that didn't fully release gets a second treatment.
- 12:30-3:00 PM: Hand-pressing. Each piece is steam-pressed by our staff — collars, cuffs, creases, pleats.
- 3:00-4:00 PM: Hangers, garment bags, final QC. Items are organized by your name.
- 4:00 PM: Ready for pickup. We'll text you when it's done.
- By 6 PM: Available for pickup at the counter. (Late pickup also fine — we're open 24h, but the counter is staffed until 9 PM.)
What's not eligible for same-day
A few categories take longer for safety and quality reasons:
- Wedding gowns — 2-3 weeks (hand-cleaned, requires inspection time)
- Heavy down coats and parkas — 2-3 days (drying time)
- Leather and suede — 5-7 days (specialty subcontractor)
- Items with extensive embellishment — case-by-case (we'll quote at intake)
- Anything we have safety concerns about — we'd rather take an extra day than damage your garment
Why same-day is actually possible (when most shops say no)
Three reasons most Brooklyn dry cleaners can't or won't do same-day:
- They batch loads. Most shops only run the dry-clean machine when they have a full load — sometimes once or twice a day. Your single suit waits.
- They're understaffed for finishing. Pressing takes time and skilled hands. If they only have one presser, they prioritize the oldest orders.
- They don't track turnaround promises. "Ready by Thursday" might really mean "sometime Thursday or Friday."

What about same-day pickup & delivery?
Same-day works for dry cleaning brought into the shop. For pickup & delivery, we ask 24-48 hours because the route schedule needs a slot for both the pickup and the return drop-off. For genuinely urgent items, we recommend dropping off in person.
If you're in our delivery area (ZIPs 11230, 11204, 11210, 11229, 11223) and need same-day pickup, call us — sometimes the driver can route to your block on the way back.

Same-day dry cleaning is the same per-piece pricing as our regular service. No rush fee, no premium. You just pay:
- 2-piece suit: $15
